'A Glorisun Scholar'!

It is a sincere honour to share that further to Rev Wadigala Samitharathana's offer of a place on an MPhil in Buddhist Studies at St Cross College, University of Oxford, a while ago, he won one of the highly competitive scholarships at Oxford, viz., 'Glorisun Graduate Scholarship in Buddhist Studies' for his upcoming studies in October 2024 onwards.

Most notably, this, by all means, casts light on the perennial history of Theravāda Buddhism in Ceylon, since he therein becomes the first ever Ceylonese Theravāda Buddhist Monk to have achieved such an eminent goal in the far-reaching field of Buddhist scholarship in the West. Therefore, Rev Wadigala will soon join the esteemed scholastic body at the University of Oxford - as a 'Glorisun Scholar' in the scope of Buddhist Studies par excellence.

In all, as members of the Oxford Buddhist Society, we all extend our warm Dhamma greetings towards him bringing off such privilege to us, while spreading word of the Buddha; we believe that this will, no doubt, be a handrail for him to serve the world out of compassion and loving-kindness.

Thank you!

With mettā,

Diyana Anthony
